In a significant step toward breaking the silence around men’s sexual health (Andrology) in India, EROS Hospital, Rajkot, hosted Gujarat’s first dedicated Andrology Workshop on 10–11 January. The program was organised by Dr. Nayan Timbadiya, a leading Andrologist and Prosthetic Urologist of the city.
Doctors note that sexual health problems such as erectile dysfunction are far more common than acknowledged, yet many men avoid seeking help due to stigma and embarrassment. This prolonged silence often leads to emotional distress, strained relationships, poor marital satisfaction, and even divorce — despite the availability of effective medical solutions.
With a strong public health and social responsibility focus, the workshop provided penile prosthesis (implant) surgeries at zero surgical cost for selected patients, ensuring that financial constraints did not prevent access to definitive treatment. The two-day program brought together 13 urologists from across India (Jammu to Telangana) for hands-on training in penile implant surgery, along with exposure to other male sexual health procedures including penile Doppler studies, P-Shot therapy, intracavernosal injections (IPI), vacuum devices, circumcision and frenuloplasty, and management of penile curvature.
“Men’s sexual health problems are medical conditions, not personal failures. When addressed early, they are highly treatable. Seeking help in time can restore confidence, intimacy, and marital harmony,” said Dr. Nayan Timbadiya
Highlighting the often-overlooked psychological dimension, Dr. Gopi, Psychiatrist at EROS Hospital, added: “Sexual dysfunction rarely affects just the body — it silently damages self-esteem, emotional connection, and marital trust. When men suffer in silence, marriages suffer too. Integrating psychosexual care with medical and surgical treatment is essential to truly heal individuals and relationships.”
This landmark initiative marks the first time in Gujarat that such a focused academic and surgical program in male sexual health (Andrology) has been conducted — combining clinical excellence, ethical training (without pharmaceutical industry support), and public awareness to encourage men and couples to seek timely care without shame.
